Terms of Service

Effective May 4, 2026 · Last updated May 4, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a contract between you and Mobile Ventures LLC d/b/a Sorted (“Sorted”, “we”, “us”). They govern your use of the Sorted mobile app, the website at www.sorted.money, and all related services (the “Service”).

Please read Section 13 carefully. It requires disputes with us to be resolved by individual binding arbitration and waives your right to participate in a class action.

Section 1

Accepting these terms

By creating an account, downloading the app, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.

Section 2

Who can use Sorted

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) and a resident of the United States to create an account. You must provide accurate information and keep it current. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account, including keeping your password secure.

Section 3

What Sorted does (and doesn't do)

Sorted is a personal-finance app that helps you understand your money by reading transactions from accounts you connect via Plaid, generating budgets and goals, and offering an AI assistant (the “Coach”) that responds in plain language.

Sorted is nota bank, broker-dealer, investment adviser, tax adviser, accountant, lawyer, credit counselor, or money transmitter. We don’t hold your money, move funds, or execute trades. We don’t provide personalized financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. The Coach generates suggestions for your consideration; you are always responsible for your own financial decisions. Before acting on anything you see in the app, consider consulting a licensed professional.

Section 4

Your account

You may sign up with email and password, or with a supported single sign-on provider. You agree to use a real email address you control. You may close your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete. Deletion is irreversible and completes within 24 hours.

Section 5

Subscription, billing, and free trial

Sorted Plus is a paid subscription that unlocks unlimited Coach use, Plaid sync, and every advanced feature. There is no free-forever tier; accounts that finish their trial without subscribing retain a read-only "Postcards" view of saved milestones.

  • How you pay. If you subscribe inside the iOS app, Apple processes the payment under their terms. On Android, Google processes the payment. On the web, Stripe processes the payment under their terms.
  • Free trial. The annual plan and the Founding Annual plan each include a 14-day free trial. You won’t be charged during the trial. If you don’t cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the price shown when you signed up. Cancel any time during the trial in Settings → Subscriptions on your device. The monthly plan and the Lifetime Founder plan do not include a free trial.
  • Lifetime Founder. Lifetime Founder is a one-time purchase that grants permanent Plus access tied to your account. It does not auto-renew and is non-refundable except as required by law or by the platform processor (Apple, Google, or Stripe) under their policies. Lifetime is offered as a strictly limited cohort and may be withdrawn at any time without notice once the cohort closes.
  • Renewal. Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price. You can cancel any time with no questions asked.
  • How to cancel.iOS subscriptions: Apple’s App Store → your account → Subscriptions. Android: Google Play. Web: Settings → Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • Refunds. Apple and Google handle refund requests for purchases made through their stores. For web purchases, contact support@sorted.money within 14 days for a full refund of the most recent renewal if you haven’t made meaningful use of the period.
  • Price changes. If we change our prices, we’ll give you at least 30 days notice before your next renewal. You can cancel before the new price takes effect.
Section 6

Bank data via Plaid

When you connect a bank account, you authorize Plaid to retrieve your transaction and balance information on your behalf. Your use of Plaid is also governed by the Plaid End User Privacy Policy. Sorted never sees your bank login credentials.

You can disconnect a bank at any time from Settings → Banks. Doing so revokes our access at Plaid and stops future transaction sync. Existing transactions remain in your account until you delete them or your account.

Section 7

The Coach (AI features)

The Coach uses third-party large language models from OpenAI and Anthropic to generate responses. These responses are generated content, not professional advice, and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. Always verify important information before acting on it.

Don’t use the Coach to share information you wouldn’t want processed by a third-party AI provider, and don’t rely on the Coach for legal, tax, medical, or investment advice. We send only anonymized prompts (transaction amounts and merchants without your identity) to AI providers, who operate under zero-retention agreements.

Section 8

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for anything illegal or to violate anyone’s rights.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, except where applicable law expressly permits.
  • Send automated traffic, scrape, or crawl the Service.
  • Probe the Service for vulnerabilities except under our bug bounty (email security@sorted.money).
  • Attempt to access another user’s account or data.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation.
  • Use the Coach to generate harmful, deceptive, or unlawful content, or to attempt to extract another user’s information.
  • Resell or redistribute the Service without our written permission.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

Section 9

Your content

You keep all rights to the content you create in Sorted (notes, goals, postcards, Coach prompts). You grant us a limited license to host, process, and display that content as needed to operate the Service for you. We don’t use your transactions or chat content to train AI models.

When you publish a postcard at a public URL, you make the postcard’s caption and styling visible to anyone with the link. You can unpublish at any time from inside the app.

Section 10

Our content

The Service, including software, design, branding, and copy, is owned by Sorted and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own personal use, subject to these Terms.

Section 11

Termination

You can stop using the Service or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if continuing to provide the Service to you would be unreasonably risky for us or other users. We’ll give you advance notice when we reasonably can.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limits of liability, dispute resolution) will survive.

Section 12

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Read this section carefully.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranties arising out of course of dealing or usage of trade. Sorted does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that any information (including transaction categorizations, balances, or Coach responses) will be accurate or complete.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sorted will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, and (b) US$100.

Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limits — in that case, the limits apply only to the extent permitted.

Section 13

Arbitration and class action waiver

You and Sorted agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by individual binding arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules, instead of in court. The arbitration will be held in San Francisco, California, or remotely if you prefer. The arbitrator’s decision is final and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.

You and Sorted waive any right to bring or participate in a class action, collective action, or class-wide arbitration. Either party may still bring a claim in small-claims court for disputes within that court’s jurisdiction.

30-day right to opt out. Within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, you can opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing support@sorted.money with the subject line “Arbitration Opt-Out” and your account email. Opting out won’t affect any other part of these Terms.

Section 14

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except that the Federal Arbitration Act governs the interpretation and enforcement of Section 13.

Section 15

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we’ll notify you by email or in-app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. If you disagree, you can stop using the Service and delete your account.

Section 16

Apple App Store additional terms

If you downloaded the Sorted app from the Apple App Store, these additional terms apply. You acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Sorted only, not Apple, and that Sorted (not Apple) is solely responsible for the app and its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no warranty obligation with respect to the app. Apple isn’t responsible for product claims, intellectual property claims, or compliance with consumer-protection or similar law. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce them against you.
